~*~*~JAPAN: Kingdom of Characters~*~*~

so Kenneth and I were the last to arrive (well, amongst our group of friends) at the Museum cause we had class at 11:30-2:30. Fortunately, our Prof. allowed us to leave class earlier so we can make it to the lecture. we were not able to join our other friends in the first round to fool around on the 2nd floor “BISA” exhibit but we went up again after anyway.
-skipping to the part where we arrive-
and so we arrive and immediately jumped the seats our other mates reserved us (front rows lol)
we were not able to look around the exhibit before the lecture started because the Resource Speaker, Prof. Romanlito Austria.
So his topic was “Visual Syntagma of Japan’s Manga”.
since I’m a big fan of Anime and Manga, most of the stuff that he discussed about were stuff that I already knew about on 漫画 (MANGA).
Honestly, I wasn’t that into his lecture because a huge chunk of my life was already devoted to my immersion to Anime and Manga ever since I was able to use the internet. ㅋㅋㅋ
so here I am taking selcas to prevent getting sleepy from how bored I was:

“Humorous Pictures” he claimed. He explains how it uses visuals to entertain viewers. From sexual topics to action & adventure portrayal, Manga is a reflection of the people and culture of Japan.
With that said,
Japan is an “image world”;
Japan is “kawaii” - cute. People prioritize visuals. You can see this in their fashion, architecture, animation, etc.

Again, Manga was stressed as one of the main products of how Japan prioritize the “visuals”
then he mentioned the fans to this culture: THE OTAKU
I guess it’s safe to say I’m an Otaku because I love Anime, Manga, Japanese video games, Japanese Music, cosplay and all that shit
——-
the next few topics were the usual, style of anime and Manga: big eyes, bright coloured hair, fascinating armor and outfits, yaoi (boy on boy love), yuri (girl on girl love), adult manga (how sexual content is not that explicit to them), etc.

what annoyed me was whenever explicit came into the topic, he would hide the explicit photos that he included in his presentation -like photos from Japan’s Fertility festival/celebrations where huge penis figures are being carried and celebrated by the Japanese people.
here’s a photo of one of the few things that he managed to flash for a short while:

:| SRSLY for someone who studied in UP and then in Japan, he’s a bit too conservative- oh wait… but then again, I saw that he brought his kid with him to the lecture lol. seemed like a sweet girl, reading her Harry Potter book or whatever it was. so I guess he did the right thing??
ohwell~ I give him points for the patience, enthusiasm and his almost 100% accurate info on ”Visual Syntagma of Japan’s Manga”. (everyone makes mistakes right? -in anyway, he had enough sources naman and he seemed really into what he was doing)
I ALSO LIKE THIS LAST SLIDE OF HIS:

at least I learned a thing or two from him.
(most of the) photo credit goes to Dianne E. Ruiz

here’s my certificate btw~

sorry if I didn’t take care of my certificate lol the lecture was just meh anyway. loljk
~A~ ugh…. DNW anymore. x_x sorry (in advance) if you find some of the stuff here offensive or whatever. this is just me being honest with my blog

~*~*~MAGICAL TICKET TO METROPOLITAN MUSEUM~*~*~
so Aug. 12, 2011 - ~*~*~FIRST TIME (again)~*~*~ me mates and I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Manila to do 2 activities for our HARTDS1 class. first one will be covered in this blog and the other one will be in a different one, -so stay tuned~~
After we participated in a seminar within an exhibit called “JAPAN: Kingdom of Characters”, we roamed around the 2nd floor of the museum to select our top 3 fave works from the exhibit: “Bisa”
(I’m not sure if all the faves I selected is part of the “Bisa” exhibit but here they are~) LOLOL
경고(warning):
1) forgive me if my writing is sloppy but this is how I blog 후후후huhuhu
2) it says in the activity to take pictures if we can but apparently we were not allowed… BUT! there’s this nice guard dude that let us take pictures just as long as we do it discreetly/in secret so… *NINJAtiem* ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
3) sorry for the blurry crap that I took ;^; we were too busy enjoying the place LOL

*NOT SURE IF THIS IS PART OF THE “BISA” EXHIBIT but I LIKE IT VERY MUCH ;u;b
> > > I like this piece because it gives of a crystalxfantasy feel like in those role playing games (see: Final Fantasy and Atelier [alchemy] games) It’s almost as old as me but it still looks ~*~*~magical~*~*~

*THIS ONE, I’M SURE THAT IT’S PART OF THE “BISA” EXHIBIT
THE DANGEROUS SWING - I’m not sure if that’s the title and I have no idea who the author is but I like it because it’s a pigeon and it reminds of an idol in a boygroup ㅋㅋㅋ also, I like animal art.

*AGAIN, NOT SURE IF THIS IS PART OF THE “BISA” EXHIBIT
»I’m amazed at how old this painting is and it still looks new thanks to the atmosphere of the museum. I like the rendition of colours and how every object, person, etc. were placed in the painting. Someday I will be able to make something like this… ;A;
____________

*JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT I AT LEAST GOT 2 PIECES FROM THE “BISA” EXHIBIT…
I’m going to include the “Nardong Tae - Volume One” wall :> just cause I found it funny, cute and amusing. I’ve heard about the Nardong Tae comics countless times but this is the first time for me to actually read it.
——————————————————-
I ONLY HAVE ONE PHOTO FOR THE FELIX RESURRECCION-HIDALGO EXHIBIT SO HERE GOES

I LOVE THIS PIECE SO MUCH BUT I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. AGAIN, THIS IS
MY FIRST TIME SEEING WORKS LIKE THESE. I love how the technique used in the painting shows how ‘classically-themed’ it is.

EXTRAS:
we fooled around the area where they teach kids money, shopping, grocery shopping, currencies, etc. and took photos. unfortunately I don’t have the said photos (it’s with me other mates) BUT I do have these:

me and me mates~
